Credence Automation has successfully delivered a custom-engineered, SIL-rated electro-hydraulic actuation solution for critical dry dock caisson gate flooding and ballast control applications. The solution includes high-performance Electro-Hydraulic Actuators for 1000 NB butterfly valves, engineered with Emergency Shutdown fail-close capability and rapid 10-second opening and 10-second closing operation. This high-speed response enables precise dry dock flooding control while ensuring reliable valve isolation during emergency conditions. Additional SIL-rated actuators were supplied for 250 NB butterfly valves installed on the caisson gate ballast tanks. By controlling the filling and emptying of the ballast tanks, these valves play a vital role in managing caisson gate buoyancy, positioning and operational stability. Credence Electro-Hydraulic Actuators combine the convenience of electric operation with the powerful fail-safe performance of hydraulic actuation. An integrated electric motor and hydraulic pump provide fast, controlled valve movement, while the spring-return mechanism ensures rapid fail-close operation during power loss, emergency shutdown or control-system failure.
