Credence Engineered Actuation Solutions proudly presents one of the largest custom-engineered pneumatic linear actuators developed for 48-inch gate valve automation in the oil and gas sector. This actuator is designed to deliver the power, safety, and reliability required for high-integrity shut-off applications in crude oil service. The actuator is capable of producing a thrust output of 360,000 N, ensuring precise and reliable operation of large gate valves. It features a travel stroke of 1200 mm to allow full valve movement, with a controlled cycle time of 48 seconds for complete open and close operation, optimized to balance responsiveness with reduced mechanical wear. For enhanced operational safety, the actuator is equipped with a hydraulic manual override system that allows manual operation in case of air supply failure, ensuring uninterrupted process control. The fail-close design uses pneumatic control logic with an integrated air tank, enabling automatic closing during power or signal loss. A triple-stroke air reserve provides additional redundancy, allowing up to three full strokes after air failure for improved fail-safe reliability. The actuator is protected with a fire jacket to withstand high-temperature and fire conditions, while the construction materials and sealing system are selected for compatibility with crude oil and other corrosive, heavy-duty environments. To improve service life, the actuator includes end-of-stroke cushioning on the closing stroke. This feature absorbs momentum at the end of travel, protecting the valve gate from impact forces, reducing mechanical stress, and ensuring smooth and damage-free operation over extended service cycles. Credence’s engineered solution reflects a combination of power, precision, and protection, delivering dependable performance in demanding oil and gas field operations.
